ONBUNDOCK is looking at offering group workshops for men.
The workshops will be aimed at delivering male focussed therapy in a group environment. This type of group experience would allow men to realize that they are not alone with their problems, issues, and concerns; and to discover how other men also deal with their feelings, or identify their experiences of being anxious or depressed, or full of anger or rage.
The course aims will be to help facilitate growth, change and different ways of coping in a positive and therapeutic group environment. Issues that will be addressed in the course will include relationships with self and others, managing feelings, loss and grief, and adjustment to life’s changes etc.
Currently there is little focus placed on men’s issues and ONBUNDOCK is looking to provide this through evening courses aimed at addressing men’s needs, please contact Russ Fraser if you are interested or alternatively would like to find out further information.
Townsville Protective Behaviours Training
ONBUNDOCK practitioner Thao Dang will be commencing regular Protective Behaviours Training courses during 2011. Protective Behaviours is a training program, which aims to assist children and adults to deal with unsafe situations. Designed by Peg Flandreau West of Madison, Wisconsin, it was introduced in Australia in 1985. It is widely used in kindergartens, preschools, primary and high schools and a variety of other context as an educational approach to the prevention of child abuse. The program is well supported with printed resources and is based on two themes:
- We all have the right to feel safe all of the time
- Nothing is so awful that we can’t talk about it with someone we trust
In the work with children these themes are developed so that each child recognizes her or his own right to feel safe and develop an individually chosen network of adults, who listen, believe and take some action so that the child feels safe again. Protective Behaviours strategies are also useful when working with adults who may find themselves in unsafe situations. At the completion of the workshop each participant will have obtained the qualifications necessary to implement the program and will be presented with a certificate of attendance.
