Gené Bekker
Gené is a Registered Psychologist with a down-to-earth and genuine positive regard for her clients. She adopts a strengths-based approach, that is, she assists people in identifying and working to their strengths, abilities and potential rather than focusing on problems, deficits and pathologies.
Gené has experience working across a range of sectors including education, mental health, corporate psychology, corrections and occupational rehabilitation. She possesses extensive experience providing diverse psychological services addressing a wide range of presenting issues to adolescents, adults, individuals, couples and groups. She is eclectic in her approach, utilising evidence-based elements from a range of therapeutic techniques, with the goal of establishing a program that is personally tailored to her client’s needs.
Gené has a postgraduate qualification in Organisational/Occupational Psychology and works with business owners, leaders and teams to help them achieve immediate and longer-term organisational goals. Prior to returning to private practice Gené applied her psychological knowledge to CEO-level leadership positions in the private and public sectors in Australia, New Zealand and the UK.
