Kate Mortimer
Kate Mortimer has a belief that everyone needs to be fiercely themselves, and finding that out is a dynamic and lifelong process. Kate would like to support people in exploring and committing to who they want to be.
Kate works with adults, couples and family groups. A particular interest is couples, where she can help people explore the relationship they want, honouring the friendship at the heart of the relationship within the context of external pressure. Kate is a rainbow counsellor and welcomes all couples.
Kate has studied psychology, counselling and conflict mediation to support a broad range of intervention and has 32 years of post-graduate counselling experience. Kate is passionate about counselling and to that end, also works as a sessional academic teaching and supervising trainee counsellors at a number of universities.
Kate’s areas of experience include emotional wellness within a military and first responder context, having worked as a psychologist with the Police and the Australian Defence Force, both members and the family that supports them, for many years. Kate is also experienced in trauma, couples, gender reassignment, grief and addictions work, with a particular interest in addictions and the impact this disease has on individuals and their families.
Kate really likes dogs.
